When a Computer Arrives
What shpul;d be done before using a new computer? This depends very much on where the computer came from and what software was alread installed. If a computer project receives new computer complete with an operating system and all prodectivity software, little needs to be done before using the computer. The computer lab manager should check, however, to make sure the computer is fully set up to meet the needs of the project. Some items to investigate are listed here:

The computer lab manager should check, however, to make sure the computer is fully set up to meet the needs of the project. Some items to investigate are listed here:
- Does the computer already have all of the programs that are desired for the project? Thuis could include, for example, an internet browser, productivity (pffice) software, antivirus software or perhaps some educational software.
- Does the computer already have all the files that are desired for the project? For example, an educational project might want to have an encyclopedia or same educational loaded on all of the computers.
- Does the computer have user accounts with password? This is a good way to control what access some users have to particular programs, files or setting and many more things.....
